Dukes McAlister Ranch Home
Main Ranch House (Sleeps 14) - Carriage House Loft Studio (Sleeps 6)
Calling all skiers, snowboarders, and snow play enthusiasts looking for the perfect retreat. Your family or group will enjoy the private sledding hills on the 3 acre property, as well as the close proximity to the ski slopes. Calling All Equestrians and Riding Clubs!! Calling all families of 20 plus their 10 horses looking for a special mountain reunion site! Calling all Church members, Artisans, and Writers looking for the perfect retreat!
Duke’s McAlister Ranch is a historic horse ranch set on three acres in the Fox Farm area of Big Bear Lake. This beloved historic landmark has been totally remodeled with quality furnishings and amenities. The outside has maintained it’s vintage red stained logs, while the indoors has kept a beautiful & comfortable vintage style.
The Main Ranch House has luxurious lodging for fourteen, and a corral and barn with stalls for 10 horses. The charming Carriage House is a very large (800 square feet) Loft Studio with additional sleeping for six and is completely equipped with a full bath and kitchenette. The Main Ranch House and the Carriage House can be booked together or separately.
As you drive up to the picturesque property, surrounded by traditional white rail fencing, you will see green grass, lilac bushes, apple, plum, and cherry trees. The moment you walk in you’ll feel an immediate sense of comfort & perhaps de ja vu… Entering the Main Ranch House, you will find it bright and airy with floor to ceiling windows which brings the outdoors inside and allows you to fully enjoy the changing seasons. The mountain retreat is immaculate with its beautiful light oak floors, spacious living room, large flatscreen TV, and natural brick fireplace which keeps the living room warm & toasty.
The family cooks will delight in this fully equipped kitchen with yards and yards of tile counter space. Everyone can pitch in to prepare ranch style meals to feed the hungry riders after a trail ride in the nearby national forest. A cozy dining nook provides seating for six. Or enjoy your feast under the trees on the beautiful wicker and glass picnic table where the gas barbeque grill is waiting for you. A gas lamp provides soft lighting for continued enjoyment after the sun has set. Or better yet, leave the lights off and enjoy looking at all the stars which can only be seen under dark crystalline skies.
The first floor master suite has a luxurious king bed with a beautiful turned light oak post and metal headboard graced with coordinated bedding in soft peach and sage tones. A large flatscreen TV faces the bed. An oversized wooden rocking chair sits in the corner ready for you to sit and read. The master suite also has a huge walk-in closet and a very large private bath with a large glass enclosed shower. Another bath on the first floor, designed in a vintage style, has a comfortable tub.
On the second floor, one bedroom has a queen bed. Also a “bunkhouse” bedroom is ready for the youngsters. This large, spacious bedroom with a Western theme has a set of twin bunk beds with a trundle underneath, another twin bed and a queen sleep sofa. One wing of the bunkhouse bedroom has a TV/DVD.
The Carriage House is one huge loft/ studio (over 800 square feet). It has so many windows and floods with sunlight. The vaulted ceilings make this home so expansive. Perfect for a close group of friends or family who want to stay up all night talking, laughing, and playing games. Also perfect for a romantic pied de terre for that special couple!! It’s totally separate from the Main Ranch House (the barn, corral, sledding hill separate it) yet close enough to scamper over for breakfast or dinner.
This home has so many separate spaces for entertaining. The adults can be telling tall tales in the living room, while the youngest set can watch a DVD in their “bunkhouse”. The basement level game room has two futon sleep couches where the teenagers can entertain themselves by watching a scary movie and playing foosball.
This 3 acre property is all about enjoying nature, whether you’re sledding on your private hills, riding your horse, watching the leaves change or the stars twinkle, yet it’s all in luxurious and comfortable surroundings. This convenient location is only a couple minutes to the slopes at Bear Mountain and a few minutes to the village for some fun shopping and great restaurants. Once your family or equestrian riding club has their reunion here, it will become an annual event. We’re waiting to hear from you
